FAQ

Plain answers

What happens when Alf gets it wrong?

Sometimes he will — we'd rather tell you that here than have you find out mid-service. Alf runs with disclosed human backup: when a call or task goes beyond what you've authorised, he says so and hands over — to your team, or to ours. Every call is recorded, every action logged, and the limits are yours: what he may promise a caller, what he may spend with a supplier, what he must never say. You review the log; the limits tighten or loosen as your trust does.

How much does Alf cost, really?

£500 per venue per month. One-month rolling contract. Maximum use — he works all day, every day, and we don't meter you per call or per question. The price is on the pricing page, in sterling, because we think hiding it is a tell.

What does it cost to leave?

Nothing. Stop the rolling month, take your exported records — staff, customers, bookings — and go. Alf's learned memory of your business is destroyed when you leave: never sold, never transferred, never reused for anyone else.

Do my callers know they're talking to an AI?

Yes — Alf is a disclosed automated speech system. In our experience the caller cares about one thing: was the table booked, correctly, first time. But nobody gets pretended at.

Whose data is it, and where does it live?

Yours. Your venue gets physically isolated memory — dedicated stores, not a shared database with a filter. Signed DPA, retention schedule, sub-processor list at signature; a pre-filled DPIA for your venue at onboarding. The long version is on Trust & data.

Only 20% of bookings come by phone now. Why would I pay for a phone answerer?

Because the phone is the smallest part of Alf — and the calls that still come are the hard ones: the twelve-top, the allergy, the complaint, the change. Alf answers those, and then spends the rest of the day on invoices, stock, rotas and paperwork. If your venue takes almost no calls, the voice module comes off and the price buys more of everything else.

Will Alf work with my till / booking system / accounts?

Alf operates the systems you already run rather than replacing them. Bring your stack to the demo and we'll tell you on the spot — honestly — what connects today and what doesn't yet.

You're new. Why should I trust you?

Don't — test us. Book the demo and try to break him. Twenty years and 26 venues went into what Alf knows about running a restaurant; a month's notice is all we ever have you commit to, so the risk stays ours to earn every month.
